Our AML and verification commitment
Horus Casino operates under Curaçao eGaming licence 8048/JAZ2021-195, and that licence carries obligations we take seriously. This page sets out, in plain language, how we verify who you are, when we ask for extra documents and how we keep our platform out of reach of money laundering.
Our AML policy and licence
We are licensed by Curaçao eGaming under licence number 8048/JAZ2021-195, and we follow the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing rules attached to that licence. Our compliance programme is built on four pillars: customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, record keeping and staff training. Every department at Horus Gaming B.V., from payments to support, reports into our Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) when something looks wrong.
What this means for you in practice: we know who our players are, we know where their money comes from when the amounts justify the question, and we report suspicious activity to the authorities in our licence jurisdiction. Since we launched in 2019, verification has been part of every withdrawal, and we do not skip it for anyone, including VIP members.
When we verify your identity
Verification points and documents
Verification happens at three defined moments: at registration (automated age and residency screening), before your first withdrawal, and again at any threshold that our licence conditions require. You can gamble and deposit before full verification, but nothing leaves the platform until we have confirmed your identity.
We ask for three document groups, and we only accept documents in your own name:
- Photo ID: passport, national ID card or driver's licence, valid and clearly showing your date of birth (you must be 18 or over)
- Proof of address: a utility bill, bank statement or government letter issued within the last 3 months showing your residential address
- Payment method ownership: a photo of the card used (first 6 and last 4 digits visible, middle digits and CVV covered) or a screenshot of your e-wallet or crypto wallet showing your name and the account details
| Trigger | What we check |
|---|---|
| Registration | Age screening, country of residence against restricted list |
| First withdrawal | Full ID, address and payment method verification |
| Cumulative withdrawals above 15,000 AUD per month | Re-screening and, where required, source of funds |
How verification works step by step
From upload to approval
Our compliance team reviews every document manually, with automated checks for tampering and expiry. The full process looks like this:
- Upload documents through the secure verification section of your account, never by email or live chat
- Automated format and authenticity checks run first
- A compliance officer reviews the documents within 48 hours
- You receive the result by email and in your account; if anything is unclear we tell you exactly what to resend
- Approved documents are encrypted and stored; you will not be asked for the same document again unless it expires or your details change
How we protect your documents
Why we ask for source of funds
Source of funds (SOF) documentation answers one question: where did the money you are wagering come from? It is separate from source of wealth, which is about your overall income. We request SOF when your deposits or withdrawals reach levels that our risk framework flags, typically large single deposits, unusual patterns relative to your history, or aggregate monthly withdrawals well above the 15,000 AUD ceiling.
Acceptable SOF evidence includes payslips, employment contracts, tax returns, bank statements showing the deposits arriving from your account, or documentation of an asset sale. We treat these documents as strictly confidential compliance records, and we never use them for marketing purposes. If you would rather not share SOF evidence, you can withdraw your existing balance up to the allowed limit and close your account without prejudice.
How we monitor transactions
Deposits, withdrawals and limits
Every deposit and withdrawal passes through automated screening the moment it is initiated, and flagged transactions go to a human reviewer before funds move. Our limits are stated up front: the minimum for both deposits and withdrawals is 30 AUD, withdrawals are capped at 3,000 AUD per day and 15,000 AUD per month, and processing takes up to 48 hours. We charge no fees on either side.
One rule matters more than the rest: withdrawals must return to the same method you used to deposit, a requirement of our licence designed to stop funds looping through accounts they never originated from. If you deposited by PayID, Neosurf, CashtoCode, Visa, Mastercard, MiFinity, Jeton, Skrill or cryptocurrency (BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, DOGE), we pay you back through that same channel wherever the method technically allows it. Where it does not, we pay by bank transfer to an account in your verified name only. Requests for a different destination account are refused.
| Check | Applied at |
|---|---|
| Sanctions and PEP screening | Registration and every transaction |
| Deposit pattern review | Ongoing, automated |
| Same-method withdrawal rule | Every withdrawal |
| Third-party payment blocking | Every deposit and withdrawal |
When verification fails
If a document fails our checks, we tell you why and give you the chance to resubmit. Common failures are cropped edges, expired ID, a name that does not match the account, or a bill older than 3 months. None of these end the process; they pause it.
If you do not complete verification within the timeframe we set, or you provide documents we cannot accept, we will suspend withdrawals and, where the risk justifies it, freeze the account pending review. Funds held in a suspended account are not forfeited. Once verification is completed, or once we have established that the activity was legitimate, we release the balance to you through your verified withdrawal method. Where we cannot establish legitimacy, our MLRO files a report to the authorities in our licence jurisdiction before any funds are released.
We also block accounts opened in restricted countries. The United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Israel, Iran and North Korea are outside our permitted markets, and accounts registered there are closed with any eligible balance returned to the original payment method.
How long we keep records
We retain verification documents and transaction records for the period required by our Curaçao eGaming licence, which extends for at least five years after your account is closed. Retention is not optional for us; it exists so that records exist if regulators or financial investigators ever need to trace a transaction chain.
After the retention period ends, documents are securely destroyed. If you want a copy of the records we hold about you, or want an error corrected, contact [email protected] and we will action your request within our standard support response times. Our live chat runs 24/7 if you need the status of a pending verification.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I withdraw before my account is fully verified?
No. Your first withdrawal always triggers full verification of your ID, address and payment method. Reviews complete within 48 hours of receiving acceptable documents.
Why was I asked for a bank statement after several months of play?
Your cumulative deposits or withdrawals reached a threshold in our risk framework, so we requested source of funds evidence. This is a standard AML requirement of our licence, not an accusation.
Can I withdraw to a card or wallet that is not in my name?
No. Withdrawals go to the same method you deposited with, and only to accounts in your own verified name. Third-party payments are blocked in both directions.
What happens to my balance if I fail verification?
Withdrawals are suspended, but your funds are not forfeited. Once you complete verification, or once our review confirms the activity was legitimate, we release the balance to your verified method.
